(5.5″x5.5″x14″) Laser cut, chocolate stained, birch plywood; solid white, stained glass; lamp parts – 2013.

“Pulse” is a laser cut light fixture designed parametrically using Grasshopper for Rhino.  The design is based on a modified hexagonal grid using randomly distributed attractor points to alter the scale of the hex shaped holes. This modification creates a wave effect across the surface of the fixture as well as wrapping the sides, and recalls pulsating wave forms as well as sunlight reflecting off of ripples in a pond. This table lamp is fabricated from laser cut 1/8″ thick birch plywood on a Full Spectrum 40W Hobby laser cutter.  The wood is cut, hand sanded, stained, and finished.  The stained glass “insert” is hand assembled using a copper foiled technique and was fabricated using an opalescent, translucent, solid white glass in this version.  As always, both glass color & pattern as well as wood stain color can be modified upon request.
